Welcome to my page! I’m Jessie Zhang, the proud founder of ‘Story Sonata‘

As a Chinese immigrant to Canada, my journey as a digital storyteller began with the Creative Writing and Digital Media programs at Vancouver Island University. After eight enriching years in video freelancing, I immersed myself in diverse connections that fueled my passion for communication.

This passion led me to pursue a master’s degree in Professional Communication at Royal Roads University, which profoundly deepened my understanding of visual and strategic storytelling.

It will be my genuine honour to craft customized content for your business and find solutions for your unique needs. “Story Sonata” was inspired by Walter Fisher’s communication theory -the Narrative Paradigm. He suggests that we are all storytellers; we make sense by our narrative rationality.

As a woman entrepreneur, it’s my mission to help women’s businesses be successful. When we work together, we make masterpieces. Thank you for joining me on this exciting adventure.

At one year old, I remember growing up in a courtyard shared by seven families, always filled with laughter and creativity. Our parents, passionate about their arts, taught music, painting, and poetry. While my father encouraged us to learn water colour painting, most kids preferred running around. Only a few of us pursued our parents' passions later on. When I reflect on my childhood, I hear the sounds of creativity and see the artistic expressions that defined our courtyard.
